COMING EVENTS
From time to time, this space will show events scheduled in the District or
elsewhere in the Seattle area, and on rare occasion events scheduled before the
Senate on Olympia. The purpose is to invite folks out, to encourage the public
participation on which democracy is based.
Events set for the next 30 days will be included first. After that follows a
list of the community groups and advocacy organizations to which I've spoken
over the past few months since the 2002 Legislative Session ended in mid-March.
Some of these are marked with an asterisk (*). These are my Legislative Issue
Reports, really conversations with community groups about legislative issues,
and on any other concerns that people raise. In the spring, I like to go some of
the 36 community councils here in Southeast Seattle, explaining what the
Legislature did, and how I voted, and asking for comments. In the fall, I go to
them again for another purpose: to listen to suggestions for action in the
coming Session. I try to make it to each group once a year at the very least.
These community groups and advocacy organizations are the heart and soul of our
Southeast Seattle community. Their meetings are about their neighborhoods, how
to protect and preserve them as places to live and raise a family. If you're not
already a member of your community council, click on Contact Us and let me know
where you live, and I'll give you their meeting schedule, place, and time.
