| Dear Constituent,
I’m honored to have served the people of the 37th Legislative District for six
sessions as your State Senator. This work gives me an opportunity like no other
to meet and talk with people from Capitol Hill to Renton, about issues that
affect our daily lives, from our children’s education to our social services,
the high cost of tuition, traffic congestion, you name it.
It’s the job of legislators to legislate. That’s why you hire us, and that’s
what makes our job different from other forms of community activism. I’ve done
that with pleasure, having passed 17 bills as the author and prime sponsor.
Following are brief summaries of those 17 of my bills that passed the entire
Legislature and were signed by Gov. Locke. Some are significant pieces of
legislation; two or three are admittedly the kinds of minor bills that have
limited purposes. The six that I consider most important are in italics.
Let me know, after reviewing this list, if you have any suggestions about other
changes that you would seek in these or other subject areas. I would love to
hear from you. You can contact me easily, either by clicking on the “Contact Us”
button on this website, or by calling me at my office. During the off-season,
I’m at 206.625.0800. During the legislative session, from January 13, 2003 until
it’s over (hopefully in early May), I’ll be at 360.786.7688, and I can also be
reached at the toll-free Legislative Hotline, 1.800.562.6000. By mail, I’m at
P.O. Box 40482, Olympia 98504. And of course by e-mail, I’m at
kline_ad@leg.wa.gov.
